Amanda worked as Kindergarten teacher for nearly a decade before becoming an educational consultant for a state agency that administers Special Education Services for children 0-5 years of age. She also worked to provide services to children in therapeutic foster care, teaching parenting classes to biological parents and creating Individualized Care Plans.
She is herself the mother of three children ranging in age from newborn to teenager. She has written articles for a number of educational publications, including Education.com, IncludED Educational Services' "The Eddie Report," ModernMom.com and others, covering issues pertaining to child development, parenting and other educational topics. She is also currently a contributing writer for About.com's Parenting School-Age Children site, providing information as the site's Education Expert.
From the time she was little Amanda was sure she would be famous, do something of importance, but it has taken until adulthood for her to realize it's not that it hasn't happened yet, but that important things can take place on a small scale. Since then she has enjoyed being important to her children and husband and struggles with aspiring to be ordinary in a world which exalts the extraordinary. As a blogger, she tends to ponder the oddities of the hectic world we live in and tries to quantify what a "good enough life" looks like.
