Travel Tuesday
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday I travelled to the most unlikely of places... Sheepvention in Hamilton VIC (Australia), which is about 300 kilometres west of Melbourne, a city of approximately 10,000 people.
The city is situated in the Western District which is predominantly made up of pastoral land and grazing properties. This is also the centre of the wool growing area and it produces some of the world's finest wool.
For the people of the Western District, Sheepvention is the ideal place to source the latest information on everything from banking and finance, genetics, forestry, cropping, machinery, motor vehicles, caravans, education, computers and the list goes on. Add to that you have a huge range of clothing; work wear and food outlets keen to showcase their wares. Not only was the local food worth the trip, I was there to work.
My friend and colleague Mary invited me to join her to ensure that one of Australia's largest banks was properly represented at this event (Mary's large corporate client). Whilst I think I was really only there for the ride, it was a pleasure to help out. With Daughter ensconced safely at home with Grandma, we headed off into the sunrise to enjoy all that revolved around sheep!
Here is a fine example of a chance to travel that I could not let pass by, that presented itself as a great thing to do, if but once. It would never feature on my travel "must do" list, but it doesn't make the exposure any less educational and enjoyable. It's all about making the most of the opportunities that present themselves, whether they be in travel or business, or life in general really. I might get to take Daughter next time...
Happy Travels!
