Startup Sunday
As an entrepreneur, you have to make a lot of difficult calls. We've just made a tough one at CurrentMom: our decision to cancel the CurrentMom 2010 conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
We knew from the beginning that it was ambitious to hold a spa getaway for small business owners and technology startups in the middle of the worst recession since the Great Depression. But we also knew that a struggling economy breeds innovation and that there are record numbers of unemployed people starting their own businesses -- or thinking about doing so. Our mission is to support everyone taking that big leap into the unknown, into entrepreneurship.
By cancelling the event, we're conceding the battle but not the war. We still plan to do great things at CurrentMom, and we want you, our readers, to help us chart our course. Please feel free to leave a comment about what you would like to see from CurrentMom, or send me an email at lewis(at)currentmom.com.
I want to thank everyone who supported our efforts: our talented and committed bloggers, our dynamic speakers on entrepreneurship and new media and our sponsors. Specifically, thank you to PepsiCo for committing to a platinum sponsorship in this difficult economy, and to our media sponsors: BSM Media, MommyTracked, MyWorkButterfly.com, StartupPrincess, The Mom Entrepreneur, Kids-List and Clear Verve Marketing. We appreciate your faith in us!
Oh, that's too bad you had to cancel. But your decision is understandable. Perhaps another time!
